The Boot Process.

While I was reading this chapter the thing I found interesting was the Boot Process Starting your computer. Base on my understanding of what I read the boot process is the act by which the computer starts up and load the operating system into RAM. What really got me thinking was what happens between the time you turn on the computer to the time you are ready to start use it, like really how many operation are run doing that time. It also makes me think back to why they always say save all your information before you turn off the computer because you will lose your information because of RAM but with the help of OS the computer knows exactly what to do when it is turn on. I now know that this takes place because of the Boot process.
I also know that there are four steps that involved in the boot process; BIOS, POST, Operating system being loaded into RAM and settings being checked. Because of BIOS (Basic input/output system) we can know that data is being exchange between the operating system and the input and output devices attached to the system. And then there is the POST (Performing the Power-on Self-Test). The POST is a system that basically runs a test on itself to see and to ensure that the essential peripheral devices are attached and operational. And then the operating system loads into RAM, from it permanent storage onto the hard drive. Checking of further Configuration and customization are done last. Just to make sure that the operating system checks the registry for the configuration of other system components.  I just can’t believe that all these process that’s place between those few seconds or minutes.
